To make a proposal to the Board of Governors, you must submit a bill in advance. Here are the guidelines for writing BOG bills:

        • There must be at least 3 "whereas" statements which include all of the who, what, when, where, and why information about your proposal.

        • ALL of the information about the proposal must be included in the "whereas" section. This includes details about money.

        • The "Let it be resolved" section is only a concluding statement of what the bill is asking for, i.e., "Let it be resolved that BOG give us one million dollars for the destruction of the White House."

        • The bill must list all proposed and/or approved sources of funding for the project.

        Example:

Whereas, the residents of Collins-Smith floors one and three do not know each other very well, nor do the residents of Collins-Smith ground floor and second floor, and,

Whereas, we, the residents of Collins-Smith, would like to get to know each other better by taking 15 people in an Indiana University van to Paoli Peaks on a Friday, staying the night in a Patoka Chalets cabin, hitting the slopes all day Saturday, staying the night again in a Patoka Chalets Cabin, and returning to Collins on Sunday and,

Whereas, two nights in a Patoka Chalets cabin for 15 people cost $450 and 15 ski lift tickets with rentals at $40 each cost $600, and,

Whereas, Community Council has agreed to pay $450 to cover transportation, and to go towards tickets and room. $10 towards each lift ticket with rental, totaling $150 for 15 tickets and, $10 per person for the room, again totaling $150, and,

Whereas, the participants of this trip will be required to pay for their own food plus $30 dollars towards expenses, and,

        Whereas,
$600 for 15 ski lift tickets with rentals at $40 apiece
+450 for 2 nights in Patoka Chalets Resort's cabin
+150 for transportation, 15 passenger van for three days

        =$1,200 total

        -450 from Community Council
        -450 from Participants' contributions

        =$300 we still need,

Therefore Be It Resolved That, BOG agrees to give us $300 for our ski trip.
