Once the Irish Triumvirate discovered how complicated Collins was, they realized that it must be really confusing for people who weren't in student government. So they decided to put together a booklet to explain it all. Brian was (and is) a prolific maker of books, and at the time most of them were smaller than 3" by 5", so any publication he had a hand in was jokingly referred to as a "Little Book."
At first, "The Little Book" was just an affectionate code name for this project (which, as you can see, ended up being a Web site instead of a booklet), but the name stuck. It's a little unexpected and sometimes a little unwieldy, but it fits. Kinda like a lot of things around Collins. :
This project was conceived in the spring of 1999 when the new Directors of Communications-- Sally O'Brien, Brian McMullen, and Kristen Murphy-- wanted to learn more about how Collins worked. There followed a flurry of e-mails and the trio's fateful decision to join Fee Committee (a crash course in Collins if there ever was one).
