Purpose:
To dole out money to artistic endeavors at Collins, to macro-manage the funds of various Collins arts installations (radio, ceramics, etc.), and to plan Collins-wide arts activities. Arts Council is committed to providing two things: Easy, convenient access to Collins residents' funds, and accountability in the use of these funds.

        Who are we?
All Collins Arts Coordinators and anyone else who wants to participate for fun and as a service to Collins and the arts.

        Meetings:
Every other Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the Conference Room.

The Arts Council funds the arts. As difficult to define as that is, we have made an attempt. We fund art for art's sake, the teaching of artistic methods through workshops, and programs in which art is the focus. It is important to note that, unlike in prior years, the Arts Council will consider requests to fund individuals' projects. In the event of such a proposal, we will examine the community benefits of the project and reserve the right to suggest community-minded changes to the proposal.

The Arts Council can help someone gain approval for the use of the coffeehouse for an open mic night, can help someone utilize the artistic resources of the university, and can provide support (information, suggestions, etc.) for artistic projects.

        Some things we've funded:

        • The Collins Music Talent Show
        • A Collins dream catcher (A Q-project)
        • The Collins Banner
        • Knitting Workshop
        • Collins Publications (Dancing Star, Collins Columns, etc.)

        Important Policies:
The Arts Council will not provide funds without a vote. The Arts Council will not conduct e-mail votes. The Arts Council will only conduct phone votes in an extreme emergency.

        Before you come:
All funding requests MUST be made in writing. An oral request will not be considered. These requests must be made on one of two forms: the Gold Form is used when a Collins resident wants to bring in an artist from outside the Collins Community; and the Pink Form is used for all other requests. These forms can be found in the plastic file container mounted on the wall outside the Conference Room.
